HIDDEN SCAR

Chapter 6: dangerous temptation

An hour and few minutes passed, and finally we were set to leave.

Side by side, we walked out of my office. Everywhere was silent, the only sound was the clicking of my heels as I walked down the hallway. This was the second time I was leaving work this late, the first time I was trying to impress my fourth adopted father, when he was still tutoring me about this company. He was the best person that ever came into my life but death took him away.

“I’m driving you home.” Richard said, bringing me back to reality.

I frowned as we headed toward the parking lot. He should know by now that I’m not the type of person to boss around.

Richard opened the door of a sleek black Ferrari, proudly showing off his taste in cars. I rolled my eyes and pointed at my chauffeur waiting beside my black Bentley.

However, Richard still insisted on driving me home, even though he knew I had no intention of agreeing.

“No, but I do appreciate you coming here to assist me,” I said firmly and we stared into each other’s eyes for what felt like forever before I smirked and turned to my car.

I could hear his laughter behind me, and it made me smile because he knew I had intentionally challenged him. Well, I love challenging people, especially men. I always want to see how much they believed they could handle my attitude before realizing they couldn’t.

My chauffeur smoothly started the engine, and the drive was peaceful until he informed me that Mr. Clinton was following us.

Damn. Richard stalking level has advanced to 2.0

“Just ignore him and keep driving,” I instructed, and my chauffeur obeyed.

I picked up my phone, intending to text him to back off, but I changed my mind. Since he wanted to play games, then I was ready for it.

When we arrived at my mansion, I stepped out of my Bentley, frowned, and folded my arms while waiting for him. I had already instructed my security to let him in, and within minutes, Richard drove into the compound.

Sensing my anger, he began to apologize as he walked closer.“Lana, I’m sorry for following you.”

Trying to maintain my angry expression, I fought the urge to smile.

“Seriously? Is that the only thing you are sorry for?” I asked, avoiding eye contact because I knew my amusement would expose me.

“Okay, I should have apologized that day for driving recklessly to the estate. I understand that you see me as a stalker and a mannerless rich boy and honestly, I am,” he admitted.

At that point, I couldn’t hold it anymore. Laughter escaped my lips. Then, I led him inside and brought out a bottle of whiskey from my wine cellar.

“Whiskey isn’t advisable when you have work tomorrow,” he remarked.

I rolled my eyes. Advice like that coming from someone who had been drinking vodka in my office only minutes ago sounded ridiculous. I stepped closer and handed him a glass of whiskey.

“What then is advisable?” I asked playfully.

Richard locked eyes with me. He knew I was teasing him, and being the bold man he was, he didn’t hesitate. His fingers slowly brushed against my lips.

My heart skipped instantly.

Damn.

We both knew what we wanted from each other, and just the thought alone was dangerously tempting.

“Are you sure you want an answer to that question?” he asked softly. His touch and deep voice sent wild thoughts to my mind.

But before I could respond, someone barged in, interrupting us.

Holy fuck.

What was Austin doing here at this hour?

“So this is how quickly you replaced me?” Austin shouted. His anger was obvious, and the disgust in his eyes annoyed me.

I opened my mouth to reply, but Richard interrupted by introducing himself and offering Austin a handshake.

I shook my head, that was a wrong move because Austin’s pride was bigger than a mansion.

As expected, he ignored the handshake and kept glaring at me.

“You are such a whore,” he spat.
