Tolu and Daniel kept in touch after the business trip. He called her every evening, and they laughed about little things. Daniel liked how Tolu was humble, kind, and hardworking. She wasn’t like the girls he had met before.

One day, Daniel came to visit Tolu at her apartment. It was small, but very neat. She served him water and sat quietly.

“I want to meet your parents,” Daniel said.

Tolu was surprised. “Why?” she asked shyly.  

“Because I want to marry you,” he said with a smile.

Tolu’s heart beat fast. Her parents were overjoyed when she brought Daniel to the house. Even Morayo’s parents noticed something was different.

Within a few months, Daniel bought a new house for Tolu’s parents so that they do not have to work in Morayo’s parents’ house. Tolu’s parents were very happy and grateful that their daughter met a loving and caring man.

Tolu had a big wedding. Many people came. She wore a beautiful dress, and her smile lit up the room.

Back in Morayo’s world, things were falling apart. Her husband Kunle was no longer sweet. He shouted at her, stayed out late, and didn’t listen to her anymore.

Morayo complained to her parents, but they told her to be patient. She felt lonely and sad. The money and gifts couldn’t make her happy.

Then, something worse happened. Morayo’s father had a car accident. He didn’t survive. Everyone was shocked.

After the funeral, Morayo found out her father had left the company in her name but she didn’t know how to run a business.

“What do I do now?” she asked her mother.  

“You need help,” her mother said.

But instead of learning, Morayo sold the company behind her husband’s back. When he found out, he was angry. He shouted and blamed her.

Their marriage became cold and full of fights. Soon, they got a divorce.

Morayo and her mother started selling their cars, clothes, and jewelry to survive. Everything was disappearing.

One evening, they sat together on the floor of their empty sitting room. “Where did we go wrong?” her mother asked.

Morayo had no answer. She remembered how she used to insult Tolu. Now, Tolu was happily married and successful.

And she had nothing left.
