I had never been this nervous in my entire life. A part of me regretted pressuring my friends to reveal the truth, but now that I knew the reason behind Adeola's strange behavior, I couldn't contain my excitement. He was going to propose. Soon, I would be the youngest Mrs. Adenuga, my dream finally coming true.
"Girl, abeg no let Deola no say we tell you anything. Make he no crucify us. [Girl, please don't let Deola find out that we told you his plans. We are not ready to be crucified]" Uchenna warned as I adjusted my crimson dress.
"Trust me, Uche, I won't."
"Who go trust you. Your emotions are all over the place! Anyone could tell that Temi and I spilled the beans. And what's with that crimson dress?" she fired back, making me burst into laughter.
"Forgive me for wearing a dress my man bought for me at one of the biggest auctions he attended," I said with a proud eye roll.
Uche clasped her hands together in mock prayer. "Abeg na God I take use beg you. [Please, in the name of God, keep this a secret.]"
I nodded, grabbed my silver bag, and hurried outside. Anxiously, I slid into the waiting Uber. "Good evening. Please take me to Radisson Blu," I said politely.
To calm my nerves during the ride, I scrolled through Instagram, looking for the latest trends and funny skits. A video of Adedoyin Adenuga, Adeola's eldest sister, caught my attention. She and her husband had done a stunning pregnancy shoot, so I clicked to see more pictures. Just then, a notification popped up from an unknown number. Maybe I shouldn't have opened it.
The moment I watched the video, regret washed over me. My man was making out with someone, her face blurred beyond recognition. Again?
This mysterious sender had been sending different clips, but the women's faces were always obscured. I couldn't tell if it was the same woman or a string of different affairs. With a heavy sigh, I decided I would confront Adeola about his infidelity another day.
